The code book said 300 feet, my tape measure said otherwise

I had a job last week where I had to run a sprinkler line across a parking lot. The code book I've used for 10 years said the max run for 3/4 inch at that flow was 300 feet, so I laid it out without double checking. When I got done, I measured with my wheel and it came out to 287 feet, but something felt off. Looked it up online and found the manufacturer's actual friction loss tables said 240 feet max at 8 psi. The code book is a general guide and it's not always right for every pipe brand. Has anyone else caught a mismatch like this between the standard references and the actual product specs?

Damn that's a solid catch, definitely saving that for when I'm second guessing my own runs. Every pipe brand has its own quirks and the code books just can't keep up with all of em, so checking the actual spec sheet is the only real way to know.
