Fell for a fancy dredge cutterhead upgrade and lost $1,200

I spent $1,200 on that new carbide-tipped cutterhead everyone's raving about, and it wore down after 40 hours in sandy silt. Has anyone else found these things just don't hold up like the old steel ones?

Switched back to my old steel head after that exact problem.

That older steel head design just feels more reliable over time. Had the same issue with a newer composite model that just gave me trouble after a few months. Sometimes the tried and true stuff really does work better.
