I finally pulled the numbers on my fuel consumption last month
Tracked every gallon through the pump meter on the Miss Dorothy for 30 days straight and found I was burning 18% more fuel running at full throttle versus 85%. One of the old hands over at the Gulfport yard showed me his logbook and it lined up with the same savings. Anyone else bothered to do the math on their burn rate?

That 30 bucks extra for 5 minutes faster really puts it in perspective.

Man, that 18% number hits hard. I did the same thing last summer on my old Evinrude. Ran it wide open for a week then backed it down to 3/4 throttle. Difference was wild. Cost me about 30 bucks extra just to get there 5 minutes faster. Not worth it. Good on you for actually tracking it though. Most guys just guess.
