PSA: Check your suction hose clamps before you start, especially on the old 8-inch Ellicott.
We were losing prime every 45 minutes on a job in Mobile Bay last week, thought it was a bad pump seal. Turned out two clamps on the main suction line were just finger-tight from the last crew. Snugged them down with a real wrench and it ran smooth for the next three days. Anyone else run into lazy clamp work causing major headaches?

We had a similar thing on a 10-inch dredge up in Toledo, but it was the discharge side. Found three clamps on a spool piece that were barely hanging on after a rushed repair. That vibration will work anything loose over time. Did you guys end up doing a full walk down of all the connections after that?

Actually, it was the intake side that gave us trouble.
