Pulled 100,000 cubic yards in a single season and felt like a slacker

Last season on the Columbia River I hit a milestone I never thought I'd see. My cutterhead dredge moved exactly 100,472 cubic yards of material between March and November. I only noticed because I was checking the totals for a report and did a double take. The funny part is my buddy on a bigger rig did 180k that same season and acted like it was nothing. Made me wonder if I'm running my operation too slow or if he's just got better conditions. Has anyone else hit a round number like that and had it mess with your head?

Honestly that 180k number would mess with my head too. Tbh I think a lot of it comes down to your conditions and what you're moving. If he's in clean sand or easy silt the whole season while you're dealing with cobble or clay it's a completely different game. Ngl 100,000 cubic yards is still a monster season and most guys would kill for that. The fact you hit exactly 100,472 is wild though I'd be staring at that number for days trying to make sense of it. Your buddy probably just had a smoother stretch of river with less downtime for maintenance or weather. But comparing yourself to a bigger rig is like comparing a truck to a dump truck they're built for different things.

Nah, bigger rig just moves more dirt period, conditions barely change the bottom line over a whole season.
