That $200 hydraulic hose crimper from Harbor Freight was a total waste
Bought their cheap hydraulic hose crimper last spring thinking I'd save money making my own dredge hoses on the barge. First time I used it to crimp a 1 inch fitting near Baton Rouge, the dies slipped and the hose blew off under pressure. Cost me an extra $150 in downtime and a new hose assembly from the local supply shop. Anyone else had better luck with those inexpensive crimpers or should I just stick to pre-made hoses?

That line about the dies slipping and the hose blowing off under pressure hits home, man. I had a similar thing with a cheapo hydraulic jack from the same store, where the seal blew out on the second lift and dropped a tractor attachment right on my foot. Cost me way more in doctor bills than just buying a name brand one would have been lol.

HaydenJ90, that's the thing with cheap tools - they end up costing you double in the long run, whether it's medical bills or just buying the replacement anyway. I see it all the time with people trying to save a buck upfront, but it's like putting bad gas in your car, you'll pay for it somewhere else.
