That suction line kink near the Mobile Bay jetty cost me a whole shift
I was working the approach channel outside Mobile last Tuesday when the flow dropped to nothing. The cutterhead was churning fine but the pump was sucking air, so I shut down and found the hose had folded over itself under the pontoon. Took me 45 minutes to wrestle it free with a come-along and a second crew member, and by then the tide had turned so hard I had to reset my swing anchors twice. What do you guys run to keep lines from pinching on tight bends, or is this just part of the job in shallow water?
