Took me 6 hours to unclog a 12 inch pipe I could have cleared in 20
Had a cutter head jam up bad last Tuesday on a job near the port. Figured I'd save time and try to clear it with a bar from the deck instead of pulling the ladder. Six hours later, after torches, a crane, and a lot of swearing, I finally got it loose. Dumbest call I've made in years. Anyone else waste a whole shift on a fix they knew better than to try?

Six hours with torches and a crane for one clog? No way.

King.aaron I think you're missing the real story here. What if that clog wasn't just a regular pipe but a specialty part from an old European system that hasn't been made in decades? Torches and a crane for six hours sounds like someone finally got tired of patching it and decided to pull the whole thing out to make a permanent fix. A lot of times you'll see plumbers spend that kind of time just to avoid coming back every six months when the same spot clogs again. Isn't it possible this was actually the smart move in the long run?

@zara447 what if the clog was solid concrete or something someone poured down there on purpose?
