A homeowner in Cincinnati pointed out my corner bead work was too proud
They said it felt 'sharp to the touch' in a hallway. I started checking every bead with a straightedge before the first coat now, which adds maybe five minutes a job. Anyone have a faster method for spotting high spots early?

Yeah, a straightedge is the right tool. I think they meant the bead was proud of the mud, not the wall itself. That's what causes the sharp edge.

Seriously, five minutes is nothing for that check. What were you using before that let a sharp bead slip through?

Exactly, that five minute check saves a ton of headache later. A lot of folks skip it because they're rushing to get tape on. Used to just eyeball it and got burned more than once with a nasty ridge after paint. Now the straightedge comes out every single time before the mud even dries. What's your method for fixing a bead that's already set up wrong?
