My taping knife cracked in half mid-skim coat yesterday
I was smoothing out a butt joint on a bedroom ceiling job and my 12 inch stainless taping knife just snapped right at the handle. The blade flew off and hit the drop cloth. I stood there for a second just staring at it. I think the metal was getting weak from years of bending it to get into tight corners. I had to drive 20 minutes to the supply house to grab a new one. Lost about an hour of work time and had to remix my mud. Has this happened to anyone else with a certain brand of knives?

Man, that sucks. I've had a 6 inch blade snap at the rivets before, same thing mid-skim. In my experience, once you start bending them to get into tight spots, the metal gets fatigued and it's just a matter of time.
