Paying a crew to tape and mud was the biggest waste of my money
I hired a three man crew to tape and mud a 2,000 square foot house last month and dropped $1,800 on it. They showed up late, left the mud too thick on the butt joints, and I ended up spending two full days sanding down their mess before I could even prime. I'm self employed in HVAC so I know what it's like to get rushed, but this was just sloppy work. The worst part is they used that quick set compound that hardened before they even finished spreading it, so there were ridges everywhere. I should have just done it myself like I always do, even if it takes twice as long. Has anyone else had a bad experience hiring out finish work and regretted it?

Figured out why they used the quick set, they probably needed it to dry fast so they could collect the check that same day. Thick mud plus fast dry equals a lazy crew that knows they won't have to sand it, that's on you to fix.
