Pro tip: A cheap plastic scraper from Harbor Freight saved my finish on a job in Phoenix

I was taping a ceiling in a house out there last month and my metal knife left a tiny scratch on a fresh coat of primer. Grabbed a 3 dollar plastic scraper from my truck to smooth a patch and it worked way better for feathering edges without marking anything up. Now I keep one in my bag for final passes. Anyone else find a simple tool that changed their finishing game?

My old boss in Tucson swore by a metal knife for that exact job. He said plastic flexes too much for a clean feather edge on drywall. I've tried both and I still reach for my 6-inch metal blade first every time.

Your boss was right about the flex. I keep a metal blade just for feathering edges because it stays stiff.

Wait, you guys are still using metal blades? I thought everyone switched to plastic years ago for safety.
