Rant: Found a lumpy mud job in a new build near Austin
I was helping a friend check out a new house in Cedar Park last week and the drywall in the living room looked like someone used a garden trowel. There were ridges every few inches and the corner beads were barely covered. Has anyone else seen this kind of rush job in new construction around here?

Wait, are you telling me they left ridges EVERY few inches? That is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE for a new build. I mean, I get that builders are rushing through these neighborhoods but that sounds like they didn't even try to sand or smooth anything. Corner beads barely covered too? That's just asking for rust and cracks down the road. Whoever did that work should be ASHAMED of themselves. Cedar Park is supposed to be a nice area, not where you pay top dollar for a house that looks like a first timer's project.

Had a similar issue with my own place a few years back, @linda_murphy, and what finally worked was getting a drywall contractor to come in and skim coat the whole thing before we painted. Cost a bit extra but saved us from the headache of ridges and peeling corners down the line.
