Serious question, just read that a standard 4x8 sheet of half-inch drywall weighs about 55 pounds.
Found that stat in an old trade manual at the supply house, and it finally clicked why my shoulders are always shot after a day of carrying boards up two flights of stairs.

That weight seems off, maybe it's for a different type of board. The half-inch stuff I've handled never felt that heavy, closer to 45 pounds when it's dry. Could be the manual was including the moisture weight from storage or a thicker paper face.

Yeah @lee627, that's a solid point about moisture weight. I always add a few pounds to the spec sheet number just to be safe.
