Spent 3 hours trying to fix a corner bead that kept popping off

I was doing a bathroom remodel in an old 1920s house and that corner bead just would not stay put no matter how many nails I used. Turns out the stud was slightly warped and I wasted a whole afternoon shimming it before realizing I should have just cut it out and sistered a new one in. How long do you guys usually spend on stuff like this before you just rip it out and start fresh?

Wait, am I the only one who's been there before? I used to think you could just keep adding nails or screws until something stays put, but a popped corner bead in an old house changed my mind real fast. @anna567 I feel you on the two day nail fight, I did the same thing with a stubborn drywall screw once. After wasting like four hours on a bead that kept pulling out, I finally realized the stud was bowed and I had to just cut it out and sister in a new one. Now I always check for warped studs first, because it saves so much time vs. trying to fix it with shims. It's annoying to rip stuff out, but it's way better than fighting it for hours and still having it pop off later.
