Vent: Found out my mud was drying too fast because of the box store mix
I was fighting cracks on a ceiling job in Phoenix last Tuesday and couldn't figure out why. Turns out the big box store pre-mixed all-purpose has less glue than the stuff from the real supply house. Anyone else notice a big difference between brands of joint compound?

Big box store pre-mixed all-purpose has less glue" nailed it. I switched to the green lid stuff from the supply house in Phoenix, no more cracking on my ceiling jobs.

Can confirm, big box mud is watery garbage. Switched to supply house stuff and never looked back.
