Visited a high-rise rehab in Seattle and the drywall crew was pure chaos

My cousin runs a small GC outfit and dragged me along to check a 14 story office building they're stripping down. The drywall crew they subbed in was hanging 5/8 board on the core walls and I couldn't believe what I saw. They were using ring shank nails into steel studs, not a single screw gun in sight. I counted six panels where the nails were popped before the taper even showed up. The foreman told me they've been doing it like that for a decade and never had a callback. I called my cousin later and told him that's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Has anyone else seen crews skip screws entirely on metal frame and get away with it? I'm curious if that's a regional thing up there or just lazy habit.

Hell yeah, I'd trust those nails about as much as I trust my own drunk uncle to fix a leaky faucet.
