Warning: I'm seeing a lot more requests for curved walls in new builds

Three years ago in a suburb outside Atlanta, I did my first curved drywall job for a custom home. It took us a full extra day to get the framing and rock right. Last month, I had two jobs in a row that wanted curved features, one for a living room and another for a hallway. Just last week, a builder asked me for a quote on three separate curved sections in a single condo unit. Is this just a local design trend, or are you guys seeing this pop up more often too? What's the best method you've found for getting a clean, consistent curve without wasting a ton of material?

Yeah, it's definitely not just you! I've been getting more calls for curved drywall too, especially in those open-plan kitchens and living rooms. For a clean curve, we've had good luck snapping a bunch of chalk lines and using thinner drywall that we can wet down a bit to bend.

Used to think those curves were just a pain for no real reason. Then we did a big remodel where the client insisted on a curved wall to hide a support beam. Seeing it finished, with the light hitting it just right, totally changed my mind. It made the whole room feel softer and way more high-end. Now I get why people ask for it.
