Contractor vs employee debate after my last big job
I had to choose between sticking with a contractor or becoming a full employee at this new shop in Phoenix. I went employee for the steady paycheck and benefits, but I miss picking my own projects. Anyone else struggle with this choice or have regrets either way?

Did you factor in how the kind of work changes or was it mostly about the money and benefits? Because I found that going employee meant I had to take whatever came down the line even if it was boring stuff I didn't care about. The steady paycheck is nice but losing control over the project mix is a real trade off you don't always see coming.

Heard this exact same thing from a buddy of mine who jumped from freelancing to a corporate gig. He said he spent the first six months just doing spreadsheet cleanup that the interns used to handle. The money was good but he quit after a year because he was bored out of his mind.
