Found an old code book from 1978 in my dad's attic last weekend
It said a 100 amp service was enough for a whole house back then, but now we're putting in 200 amp as a standard minimum. Where did all that extra power go, just bigger homes and more gadgets?

Yeah, @leor83 is right about the gaming PC and AC! I had to upgrade my own old house from 100 to 200 amps just for the kitchen gadgets and extra TVs.

A 100 amp service sounds crazy low now lol. My gaming PC and AC alone would probably trip that. They must have had like one fridge and a few light bulbs back then.

Honestly my whole house runs on 100 amps and it's fine, even with a fridge and window units. Barbara91 must have some serious power tools in her kitchen.
