Had a day last Tuesday that made me remember why I love this trade
I got called to a house in Ferndale where the homeowners were getting flickering lights in half their kitchen. Took me about 45 minutes to find it. A loose neutral in the main panel, but it was tucked behind a bunch of other wires. Cleaned it up, tightened everything, and the lights came on solid. The lady handed me a cold bottle of water and said she hadn't slept right in a month because of the flickering. That simple fix, maybe $5 worth of work, made her whole week. Has anyone else had a job that felt small but meant a lot to the customer?

Did the hiring manager actually mention the loose neutral during the interview, or is that just your gut feeling kicking in after you got the job? I'm asking because sometimes people tell themselves a story about how they landed something, but the real reason might be totally different. Maybe the company saw something specific in your experience that you're downplaying. What exactly makes you think luck had more to do with it than your actual skills?
