Had a guy tell me commercial work is 'real' electrical work...
I was at a supply house last Tuesday picking up some 12/2 for a residential job and overheard this older electrician telling the counter guy that commercial work is the only 'real' electrical work out there. He said residential guys just run romex and swap outlets all day. It kinda got under my skin because I've been doing residential for 6 years now and I've dealt with some nasty panel swaps and fire damage rebuilds. On the flip side, I get that commercial guys deal with three-phase systems, pipe bending, and bigger load calculations every day. So which side is actually harder or more skilled? Is there a real divide between the two, or is it just old-school gatekeeping? Curious what you all think.

12/2 and a shovel handle got me through my first fire damage job, just get it done.

Had a buddy who did his first fire job with nothing but a hammer and some romex. Ended up having to redo half the kitchen because he missed some hotspots behind the wall. Thing took him three extra days and cost him a weekend with his kid. Makes you wonder if the quick and dirty approach is really worth it in the end, you know?
