Hit 1,000 service calls last month and it finally clicked why I keep burning out on residential work

After counting back through my records I realized I ran 1,047 calls in 2023 and that pace has me swapping breakers every other Saturday just to keep up, anyone else feel like the volume is getting insane or is it just my market?

Kinda feels like you're making it way bigger than it is. 1,047 calls in a year works out to like 20 a week, which is a normal schedule if you're just doing service work. Ive been in the trade for 12 years now and that number is pretty average for a busy shop. Sure its a grind some weeks but swapping a few breakers on a Saturday is just part of the deal. Maybe your issue is more about how you're running your day or what kind of calls you're taking. Could be you just need to filter out the cheap stuff and let the easy money pass by.

Yeah I get what you're saying @spencer_perry77, that "just part of the deal" attitude is how most guys stay in this line of work. Reminds me of my uncle who used to tell me ive got no room to complain about a few odd hours since he spent entire summers pulling wire in attics. Different trade same plot right, what kind of calls do you find yourself skipping to keep the numbers manageable?
