I finally listened to that old foreman about grounding rods

A foreman I worked with 3 years ago kept telling me to drive ground rods at a 45 degree angle instead of straight down. I always thought he was just old school and set in his ways. So last month I had to replace a ground rod on a job in Phoenix and decided to try his way just to see. Well the resistance tested way lower than my straight ones ever did. I had to redo three of my older installs to match it. Has anyone else tried the angle method and seen a difference?

Angled rod breaks through the dry surface layer, that's why your readings dropped.
