I lost a whole afternoon trying to save $50 on a used wire puller that was missing a key part.
The local pawn shop sold it to me for $75, but the tension spring was shot and the replacement cost $60 plus two hours of my Saturday tracking it down.

Totally get that feeling... I just start breaking it down into the smallest pieces I can handle. Grab a piece of paper and scribble the first step, even if it seems dumb. Sometimes just getting something written makes the next step appear... and you can follow the trail out of the woods.

WHOA wait hold on. Did you just say you scribble the FIRST step even if it seems DUMB? That's WILD to me because I get stuck on trying to make the first step PERFECT before I even start. Like I'll sit there for an hour convincing myself the first move has to be the RIGHT one or the whole thing falls apart. Your way sounds WAY easier honestly. Might have to actually try that "dumb scribble" thing next time I'm paralyzed by a problem.
