Picked the cheaper multimeter over Fluke for my first tool kit
I was starting out and had to choose between a $40 Klein and a $200 Fluke for my first multimeter. Went with the Klein to save money for other tools, and it's been solid for basic residential work. Anyone else start with budget gear and regret it later?

Is it really that deep though? Ive got a cheapo Innova from Autozone that cost like $30 and it reads voltage just fine for basic stuff around the house. Unless youre doing industrial work where a wrong read could fry something, youre probably fine.

You ever have that moment where you realize your cheap tool might be lying to you? Yeah I used to think the same way until that exact dryer story happened to my neighbor, now I check mine against a known good one first.

Oh man, you just reminded me of the time my buddy used a cheap multimeter to check his dryer outlet and it showed 120v when it was actually 240. Not saying yours is gonna do that, but it definitely made me think twice about those no-name ones.
