Spent 5 years running conduit wrong, a service guy in Toledo pointed it out

I always pulled wire after I had the conduit all strapped up and glued. Thought that was the only way. Then this old timer came to fix a stuck pull on a job we did, and he asked why I didn't pre-lube the conduit as I went. Turns out I was making every pull twice as hard, and probably stretching the wire jacket too. Since he showed me that trick of blowing a little lube through the pipe before the pull, I haven't snapped a single wire. Anyone else learn a basic thing way later than they should have, or was it just me being stubborn?

My buddy spent two years stripping wire with his teeth before a journeyman showed him the proper strippers.
