TIL the wrong way to use a multimeter on live circuits

I was testing a outlet in my own kitchen for months, checking voltage between hot and neutral only. Then a old timer at a supply house in Dayton asked why I wasn't checking hot to ground, turns out that's where a lot of floating issues hide. Anyone else skip that test until it bit them?
