Went into an old commercial building downtown and found cloth wiring from the 1940s still live
I was doing a panel swap in a building on Elm Street last Tuesday. Pulled the cover off and saw cloth covered wire still feeding a couple circuits. No ground, crumbling insulation. The owner said nothing had been touched since the 1970s. I showed him a chunk of insulation flaking off in my hand. He finally agreed to rewire those two runs. Anyone else run into cloth wiring that was still energized?
