An inspector called me out on my governor rope tension method

I was working on a 1992 Dover in a Phoenix office building, and the state inspector watched me check the governor rope by hand. He said, 'You're guessing. That rope needs 40 pounds minimum, and your pull is maybe 25.' I bought a tension gauge the next day and now I use it on every inspection. How many of you still do the hand check, or have you switched to a gauge too?

Tbh that inspector did you a favor. Hand checks are just guessing, the gauge takes all the doubt out of it.

Exactly, that gauge reading is what you need for real peace of mind.

Wait, only 25 pounds? That's it?
