Can we talk about the way some guys set up their temporary power for a controller swap?

I saw a crew in Phoenix last week using a 12-gauge extension cord run from a floor below to power their test box for a full MIP swap, which is just asking for a voltage drop issue. They spent an extra hour troubleshooting phantom faults that cleared up as soon as we ran a proper 10-gauge line from the machine room. What's the most sketchy temporary power setup you've had to fix on a job?

My own dumbest move was trying to power a test bench with a cord that had a sketchy splice under electrical tape.

14-gauge" used to be my motto too, until a similar meltdown.

My old boss swore by 14-gauge cords until a brownout fried a VFD.
