Changed my mind about greasing guide rails after a 6 month test

Old timer Jim at the union hall always said to never grease the guide rails, just wipe them down. I stuck with that for 2 years until a buddy at the Otis shop in Cleveland said he does a light coat every 6 months on his routes. I tried it on a 12-stop hydraulic in a low-rise office building. Rides are way smoother and I haven't seen any buildup yet. Has anyone else had good luck with this or am I asking for trouble down the road?

Easy there @the_john, it's six months, not years. Patience.

Hot take but yeah, I've been doing it for years with no issues!
