Fixed a leveling issue with a zip tie and a dime

Had this Otis Gen2 that kept drifting about half an inch at the third floor. Drove me nuts for two days. Tried swapping the encoder, checking the brake gap, even re-leveled the door tracks. Turned out the leveling switch bracket had a hairline crack and was flexing just enough. Wedged a dime in there with a zip tie to hold it steady while I waited for the part. Has anyone else bodged a fix like this that actually held for months?

Man alive, that's a beauty. Reminds me of the time my old pickup's radiator hose started leaking on a fishing trip. I wrapped it in electrical tape and a sock, then zip tied the whole mess. Lasted almost a year before I finally got around to fixing it proper. Sometimes you just gotta make do with what's in the truck or your pocket.

Heck yeah, @mark_smith59. I gotta ask though - did you keep the sock on there the whole year, or did you swap it out when it got all nasty with antifreeze? That's the real question for anyone who's done a proper redneck fix.
