Heard a homeowner say 'it's just a button' and had to walk away
Last Tuesday I was swapping out a worn floor selector in a 14 story building downtown and this guy in the lobby tells his wife that my job is basically pressing buttons all day. I smiled, finished the swap, then showed him the 45 year old relay logic that had to be traced through three different control cabinets. He went quiet real fast. Anyone else ever get hit with the 'you just push buttons' line from a customer or bystander? How do you handle it without getting rude?

Ugh, RIGHT? I once had a guy watch me reprogram a whole building system and go "so you just type stuff in a computer?" Like buddy, I just rewired your ENTIRE fire alarm loop while you stood there eating a sandwich. Some people really think we're out here playing elevator simulator for fun.
