Noticed a change in how we handle door lock adjustments on older Otis units
Three years ago, the standard fix for a sticking door on a 1970s Otis was to just file the lock roller. Last month, I was working on a bank of four in an Atlanta office building and found that approach just made things worse over time. The real issue was worn guide shoes letting the door rack drift. Last week, I replaced the shoes on all four cars, and the locks lined up perfectly without any filing. It saved me about two hours per car on callbacks. Has anyone else shifted from adjusting the lock to checking the door guides first on these older models?

Honestly, "saved me about two hours per car on callbacks" is the real punchline here. Classic case of fixing the symptom instead of the problem.

Two hours per car just for callbacks is a wild number.

@patricia634 calling out the fix-the-symptom trap. Wait, two hours a car for callbacks? That's insane.
