One inspector's offhand remark about my rail brackets saved me a redo in Cleveland

Last spring I was finishing a MRL job downtown and the inspector walks by, glances at my bracket spacing, and just goes 'you know those are rated for 24 inches, right?' I'd been running them at 30 to save time and material. Turns out the guides can flex enough on a fast car to trip the safeties on a bad day. I redid all 14 brackets that afternoon, took maybe 3 extra hours. Now I check the spec sheet on every job before I even pull the drill out. It's one of those things nobody flags until you get a call back. Has anyone else had an inspector drop a hint like that and you just felt stupid for missing it?
