Pro tip: Never trust a 'brand new' controller board without testing it first

Honestly, last month I got called out to a high-rise in Austin where three cars kept dropping into inspection mode randomly. Spent a whole day tracing wiring on the MRL unit before I swapped the main controller board. The new one from the supplier was DOA, had a cold solder joint on the main relay. Lost a full shift and had to wait for a replacement overnight. Has anyone else had bad luck with factory-fresh parts lately?

You think they just don't give a damn about quality control anymore? I've had three boards in the last six months that were dead or half-dead right out of the box. The last one had a cracked capacitor that I only caught because I looked real close before even powering it up. Cost me a half day of troubleshooting and a lot of cussing. Now I test every single part on the bench before I bring it to a job, no matter how new the box looks. Saves me from looking like a hack when the customer is watching.
