Spent 4 hours chasing a phantom door lock fault in Chicago

Got a call on a Otis elevator in a Loop building last Tuesday. Doors would refuse to close every 20th cycle or so. Checked the interlocks, the rollers, the gate switch. Turned out to be a worn solder joint on the logic board inside the controller. Cost me half a shift before I spotted it with a magnifying glass. Has anyone else had a hidden solder crack eat up their afternoon?

Man that's brutal, I feel your pain. @abbychen that thermal camera trick is wild, never would have thought to use one for a solder joint.

Read a guy on a forum who found one after three days with a thermal camera.
