That $220 door operator board I almost tossed in the scrap bin

Pulled a KONE door operator board out of a 20 year old elevator last month that was throwing a code 52 every time. Shop rate said replace it, customer said try to fix it first. Turned out to be two swollen caps and a cracked solder joint on the relay driver. Fixed it in 40 minutes with a $12 cap kit and it passed 200 cycles on the test run. Customer paid the diagnostic fee and labor, so I basically made $180 on something I was about to trash. Any of you guys still bother repairing boards or is everything swap-out these days?

Remember those boards often need a firmware flash too, not just caps.
