That time an old timer told me my door gap was all wrong...

Had a guy with 30 years experience watch me set a landing door gap at 3/8 inch and he just laughed... told me to bump it to 1/2 and it fixed my binding issues completely. Anyone else had to eat crow on a basic adjustment like that?

Ha, love it! Experience usually wins over the manual every time.

I mean I get that, but idk, sometimes the manual actually saves you from those moments where you're like "well that didn't work." I tried building a bookshelf without reading the instructions once and ended up with the shelves facing the wrong way. Had to take the whole thing apart. Experience is great but it's also how you learn what not to do, you know? For me, a quick glance at the manual first just helps avoid the unnecessary headaches.
