Vent: A sheave alignment went sideways on me this afternoon

Tbh, I was setting the governor rope on a Kone job and the sheave just wouldn't track straight, no matter what I did. Honestly, after about 90 minutes of fiddling, I found a burr on the shaft that was throwing everything off. Anyone else had a simple burr cause a whole afternoon of headaches?

Yeah, a quick file pass usually sorts that out for me.

Last year a tiny weld spatter on a guide rail made a door sound like a freight train. Spent two hours on a noise complaint before I spotted it. Sometimes the fix is stupid small.

The fix was stupid small." Yeah, like the time I spent three hours tracking down a ghost oscillation in a hydraulic elevator, only to find a single pebble stuck in the guide shoe. It was a very expensive pebble, apparently. Would've paid good money to see the look on my own face when I finally saw it.
