Heard someone say Firefly got canceled because fans didn't watch it live back in 2002
Is that actually true or was it Fox just messing with the schedule? Because I remember spending my allowance on the DVD box set later and being crushed there was only one season. What do you think killed it more - low ratings or bad time slots?

Fox just messing with the schedule" is totally backwards - the truth is Firefly fans killed it by not showing up when it mattered, and Fox actually gave it a decent shot by airing those first few episodes in order before the baseball mess happened. If the show really had that passionate following everyone claims, even a bad time slot wouldn't have sunk it that fast.

The ratings were right there in the Nielsen books each week. If half the people who now claim to love Firefly had actually watched it live back then, Fox would have kept it on. I've seen local bands break up because their friends promised to come to shows and never showed up. Its the same deal here.
