I just rewatched the final scene of 'Firefly' and realized the whole show was about finding a new home
For years I thought it was just a space western about cool fights, but that last shot of Serenity flying free changed my view. I really wanted to see if they ever found a safe planet to settle on. What's a show you wish had gotten a proper ending?

Oh man, you're totally right. That last shot really hammers home they were all just lost people looking for a place to belong. Makes the whole "you can't take the sky from me" thing hit way harder. I'm still mad we never got to see them find that safe harbor.

My buddy Dave got so into this show he named his cat Serenity and painted a whole mural of the ship in his garage. He used to say it reminded him of his old band days, just a bunch of misfits crammed into a van chasing gigs that barely paid gas money. When the show got canceled he barely talked for a week, like he lost that feeling of being part of something bigger.

Yeah, that "safe harbor" line from @jones.blake nails it. The whole show is them running from one temporary fix to another. Even the episodes about heists, like in "Ariel", are really about getting enough cash to keep flying, to keep that feeling of home alive a little longer. It makes the ending so bittersweet because they're still searching. I wish "The OA" had gotten to finish its story. It was all about building a home, too, but in a totally weird way.
