My buddy told me to skip 'The OA' because it was too weird, but I finally watched it and now I'm mad it got axed.
He said after the first season, 'It's just going to get canceled, don't waste your time.' I listened and ignored it for years. I finally binged both seasons last month and it's one of the most unique things I've ever seen. The cancellation after that wild season 2 cliffhanger is a crime. I wanted to see where that third dimension and the whole crew went next. Was he right to warn me off a show that ends on a huge unresolved note, or should I have watched it anyway for the experience?

My friend's warning about The OA just saved me from my own future heartbreak.

Honestly I used to defend those kinds of shows. I figured any big, creative idea was worth following, even if it got cut short. But getting burned one too many times changes your mind. Now it just feels like a waste of time and emotional energy. Your friend gave you good advice. I'm not starting anything from those creators again unless it's already finished.

That show really does leave you feeling a certain way (like you need to lie down for a week). Read a piece about how the creators always plan these huge, weird stories that networks cancel. It happened with "The OA" and then again with "A Murder at the End of the World." Makes you not want to get hooked on their stuff, because you just know it's going to end on a wild cliffhanger that never gets solved. Your friend did you a solid with that warning.
