Picked my mom's old sewing machine over a new one... game changer

I got into sewing last month and was about to drop $400 on a new Brother machine. Then my mom pulled out her 1972 Singer from the basement, all dusty and barely used. Cleaned it up, oiled it, and that thing runs smoother than any modern plastic model I tested at the store. It sews through denim like butter, no computer chips to fail or digital screens to break. Now I'm hooked on hunting for vintage machines at thrift shops for under $30. Has anyone else switched to an older tool and found it worked better than new gear?

Yeah, I found a 1950s Kenmore at a garage sale for ten bucks and it runs circles around my friend's new Singer.

The motor runs quiet and smooth, and you can feel the weight of the metal gears when you turn the handwheel.
