Still mad about Carnivale getting cut after season 2

I finally got around to rewatching Carnivale on HBO last month and I forgot how much that cliffhanger still bugs me. The whole season 2 finale sets up this huge battle between Brother Justin and the Avatars and then poof, nothing. I remember reading that the creator had like six seasons planned out and we only got two. The show was so weird and atmospheric with all those Dust Bowl vibes and the tarot cards and the freaking season 3 teaser at the end with the atomic bomb. Has anyone else tracked down those old comic books that were supposed to bridge the gap or did I imagine those existing?

Comics were real but the plot summaries Knauf posted actually sound better than what we got.

I remember hearing that the creator, Daniel Knauf, actually posted his whole season 3 outline online somewhere a few years back... it was supposed to get really wild with the whole WWII thing and that bomb teaser they showed. Never did check out those comics though, heard they were hard to find.
