That week I binge watched 'The OA' again and finally got why it was canceled

I spent last Tuesday through Friday rewatching The OA after a friend argued the second season was too weird for mainstream audiences, and I actually see their point now. The first season had this raw emotional hook, but the second went full sci-fi multiverse and lost the plot for most casual viewers. What show did you defend for years until you rewatched it and realized the cancelation made sense?

That "went all the way off the deep end" line hit me hard because I had the exact same experience with The 4400. I used to tell people they gave up too early, but when I rewatched it last year I realized the later seasons were just too scattered and weird to hold anyone's interest. Sometimes the showrunners get so excited about their big ideas they forget what made people fall in love with the show in the first place.

Wait, I used to tell everyone who hated on season 2 that they just didn't get it, but on my last rewatch I sat there thinking "yeah this is a mess." The first season felt grounded and weird in a good way, but the second one just went all the way off the deep end and I can't blame people for tapping out.
