The week I realized 'The OA' was really gone for good

I was on a work trip in Chicago last month and had a free evening, so I decided to rewatch the first season. I got so into it again, remembering all the wild theories my friends and I had about where the story was going. The next day I looked up any news, hoping for a miracle, but there was nothing. It hit me that we'd never see the rest of that planned five-season story. What show cancellation still makes you angry to think about?

For a long time I figured cancelled shows just weren't popular enough. The OA ending changed that view for me. It proved a show could have a dedicated fanbase and a clear plan, and still get cut off. That cancellation felt like a real loss for creative storytelling.

Yeah I used to just think if a show got cancelled it was because nobody was watching. But the OA really showed me that's not the whole story. It had people who loved it and it knew where it was going, and they still pulled the plug. That one hurt because it felt like they cut off a story that was only halfway told. It makes me worry about starting any new show now, idk.

Ugh, don't even get me started. I'm still not over the OA ending. My whole watch list now is just shows that already have a proper ending, because my heart can't take another surprise cancellation. I got burned so bad by that show, and then again by that other one about the library with the magic door? I'm basically a professional show starter who gets left hanging.
