Tried binging Firefly after watching Cowboy Bebop and it felt like two different worlds

Ngl I finally watched Firefly and Bebop back to back last month and Bebop just blew it out of the water for me. Firefly had this cool outlaw vibe but the writing felt kinda clunky compared to how tight and emotional Bebop was even with just one season. I wanted to see more of the crew's backstories on Firefly especially Inara but the show just ended before anything got deep. Has anyone else felt one of these canceled shows was way better done than the other?

I remember reading that Joss Whedon wanted to explore Inara's backstory more in season 2. It's a bummer the show got cut short just as it was starting to find its feet.

You ever go into something totally sure of your opinion and then just... have it flip on you? Same thing happened to me - I was all in on Firefly first but @rosep87 has a point about the cut-short part, though rewatching Bebop made me see how much tighter its storytelling really was. I guess sometimes a short run just forces everything to count more.
