Blew $3,000 on a 'certified' business coach and got nothing but generic advice

I signed up with this guy who claimed he helped founders scale to 7 figures. Paid him $3,000 upfront for 3 months of coaching. All I got was canned templates and stuff I could find on YouTube for free. He kept saying 'network harder' but never introduced me to a single real contact. I live in Austin and I swear half the coaches here are just former sales guys with no actual business experience. Lost about 4 months of momentum chasing his system. Has anyone else gotten burned by these self-proclaimed mentors?

Haven't we all learned the hard way that some business coaches are just really good at selling themselves instead of actually coaching? I once paid a "growth expert" $2,000 and all he did was tell me to "post more on LinkedIn" while showing me screenshots of his own posts that got like 12 likes. It's embarrassing looking back, but I guess I bought the dream instead of checking if the guy had any real results. What made you finally realize he was full of it?

Oh man, you just described my first coaching experience to a T... I paid this guy $1,500 and his big advice was to "just ask for the sale more directly" while he nervously checked his phone every five minutes. The real kicker was when I looked up his own business later and found out it had basically no revenue... dude was coaching people on a skill he'd never actually done himself. I still cringe thinking about how I sat there nodding along like he was some kind of guru instead of a guy with a website and a credit card.
